This speaker-independent voice control system "understands" commands that manage Global Positioning System - e.g. orders moving along square units of the downloaded maps, or zooming in / zooming out. Or it may be a voice command setting a destination point (a certain crossroads, for example), or calculating the optimal route to objects of the given category (supermarkets, banks, hotels etc.) and providing its output on the screen.
"From the very beginning, GPS have become indispensable for the officers of rescue teams, as well as for emergency, fire and police departments", comments David Lubinitsky, CEO "Almost simultaneously the voice control systems handling GPS also came into being. Now many of GPS-systems feature built-in voice control - some of them are better, some are not that good. We offer another solution. As in all our speech processing systems, the GPS Voice Interface implements our speaker-independent speech recognition technology that we have already realized in Ectaco’s multilingual speech-to-speech phrase-book UT-103".
