One year ago I bought an EE586HT(the most advanced translator)and I paid it 499.95 + $30. In less than one year it brake down so I sent it back to ectaco for repair in December 2006.
I've been advised that the repair would take between 6-8 weeks but after all these months I didn't receive it yet and when I ask provisional dates and/or manager contacts I don't receive any updates. It seems my unit has disappeared ! I don't think it's serious. Do you?
At last, I've reviewed the technical specification of my unit and the newer version and very few things have been introduced : human voice and colour display....
Other basic and important features that you may find for free on babelfish or elsewhere offer much more than that.
I strongly believe that an electronic translator needs irregular verbs, tenses and the chance to translate entire phrases and not only single words.Don't waste your money!

I hope you are joking....I start to think that you are unable to repair my unit and that now you are trying to find a solution to avoid losing money or repair my unit!?
I've sent the unit in December 2006!I didn't trust ectaco and I'm still not trusting you so I've sent it as a special delivery within insurance and you signed to receive the package.
Also, I always dealt with Ingrid Owen who confirmed me the unit has been received and that they are repairing it. I'd like to know...who's repairing it?What about updates and deadlines(as the 6-8 weeks were not met!). I asked Ingrid those two questions and her reply is always:
We can't rush the repair process....Do you think it's correct/professional?Would you accept this reply?
Now, could you please check again about my unit?Should you wish I still have all the emails between me and Ingrid Owen which are proving everything I'm saying
