Dear all!
Please help!

I need to download a document into my new Jetbook. In English.
It is in the Word. So I converted it into PDF. Then I downloaded it into my Jetbook. It opens OK. But the letters are EXTREMELY small. Not possible to read at all. The "ZOOM" button does not work ( on other books zoom works OK).

Please help those who can!

Hey,

Thanks for the message. The JBC can read word documents (with the newest firmware). Can you try just adding the book in word format and try reading it?

Sometimes software used to convert files can corrupt the file or book.

Thank you for reply.
First I downloaded the document as Word. Jetbook was not able to recognize at all.

Then I converted it into PDF using my Office 2010 Pro. On my PC it is not corrupted. I can zoom it easy with no problems. But on my Jetbook it is absolutely not readable. Very tiny characters.
Is it possible to do anything? Or I have to buy another e-reader that can work with Word or PDF documents?

It is not book. It is just a short document - 25 pages.

Hi,

What firmware version do you have on you jetBook Color? Check in Setting, Device info.

If you have rights to the document, can you attach it to your next post? Their is a button below you can click 'attachments' and add it for us to look at.

Do you have your order number? It should be on the upper-right of your invoice and look like eOrd-4#####.

Hi,

Ok, it seems you have a jetBook JB-5 (rather then the newer jetBook Color). The jetBook JB-5 is an older model, the last firmware revision was in 2010.

The JB-5 can play the PDF but not the WORD file. Once you open the PDF book, click on the menu button. Check to see if their is an option for 'fit to screen' or 'reflow'.

Experiment with turning these things on and off and see if you get a desired result.

Also, you can email our support team, since this is a slightly older model they may have more information then myself. You can email support@ectaco.com

If you want to get the jetBook Color its a great PDF reader. You can look at it here https://www.ectaco.com/jetBook-Color-Black/ If you send back your old jetBook JB-5 i can give you a $120 rebate on the jetBook Color. I can help you with that.

Hope this helps!

One more question if possible. From what sites I can buy/download e-books for Jetbook and Jetbook Color? I bought a book from Amazon. Downloaded it to my PC. Wanted to download to my Jetbook. But without success. All books on Amazon are protected. Can be read only on Kindle.

What are other sources of books for Jetbook?

Hey,

Amazon and apple iBook store are basically the only 2 sites that wont be compatible (i'm sure there are some others). Other sites have different rules and compatibility.

It all really boils down to format. If you download a book in the format compatible with the jetBook it should work without issue. You can find some more information about formats here at this link https://www.ectaco.com/posts/list/53839.page

Unfortunately i can't we don't work with any specific websites on the sale of eBook so i am no longer able to publicize information like that.

I think maybe some of our forum users may be able to help you though!

The availability of e-books is to some extent dependent upon the country/market you are in.
While the internet is still free or unrestricted, there is a very large number of sources to
choose from. Any search engine should find you plenty of sources for ebooks that are in
the formats that the jetBooks can read. The books released by the major publishing houses
are sold as ebooks with DRM encryption applied to them. The jetBook spec.s list which DRM
scams each device can support natively. There are also several sites that provide DRM free
ebooks, mostly those out of copyright in the country the site operates from.

I always use office 2010 to convert word document to pdf file, but before to convert I go to layout and I insert in the custom page size the dimension of my jetbook.
And it works fine for me and I do not need to zoom the page in my jetbook.
I hope this could help.
