Just received my jetBook Color. Thought I might try turning it Off as it was already On when received.
However when I slide the switch across and hold it there for longer than 5 seconds it simply restarts when I release the switch. No matter what I do I can't switch this thing Off!

Hi,

Thanks for the message, first try to reset the unit with the button below. Then try to turn the device off like normal.

The power button on the bottom must be slid to the right ( left is Wi-Fi). Also, if you slide for a second it will lock the device, You should slide it to the right for 5 seconds.

Realistically you do not have to turn the device off. It does not consume any battery when it is on (unless you are connected to Wi-Fi). Under the OK button is a blue light, it is only consuming power when the blue light is on.

Thanks for your reply Jerry.
I tried the reset button and the response I get is similar to what I get when I slide the switch to the right for more than 5 seconds. The screen flashes on and off a couple of times and when you release the button or switch you are taken back to the Main Menu.
I've noticed comments regarding a recent firmware change. Could it be that the designers have implemented a change and not notified you?

Hi,

The most recent firmware version seems to be OK. Do you have the newest version on your device? You can check in settings, The newest is r1818.

Updates can be done here http://www.jetbook.net/update/jetbookcolor

Jerry: Thanks for your patience. I've been expecting to see a blank screen when the device is switched OFF. I now understand that it displays a graphic (picture of Big Ben) in this mode.

No problem! I took had a similar 'issue'. I used it as a daily reader and panicked a few times thinking i left it on, in reality it only consumes batter when you turn a page or take some kind of action.
