Please, please, please tell me there's someone out there, anywhere, working on a port of linux or android for the JBC!!! I've had my JBC for about a month now, and as far as hardware goes, it's pretty decent. Not great for a $500 pricetag, but adequate. The problem is WinCE! I'm not an engineer or anything, but I'm willing to bet that, like all versions of Windows, WinCE is a resource hog. The really big problem with the device though is the total lack of configurable options. The JBC is probably my fifteenth ereader, I was one of the first to buy the ebookwise ereader when it came out in the last century. Since then, I've used (and managed to kill several) a variety of ereaders from several manufacturers, even Ectaco, and with the exception of the color screen, any one of the older ones was better than the JBC because of the underlying OS.

My complaints?

1. no configuration options ;
2. no font options other than 6 sizes ;
3. crappy main menu options (like view by icon, view by name) and eight massive icons taking up the whole screen? ;
4. no library menu options (i.e. view by thumbnails, view by title, change default library font etc.) ;
5. three rotates counterclockwise instead of one single clockwise rotation to read in landscape with the "next page" button under my right thumb ;
6. no option to continue reading where I left off in my last book when I restart the device after it time's out ;
7. no options to swap title and author or view other information concerning author or book ; and
8. a number of other petty annoyances that shouldn't be there!

I have no idea what the sales figures are for the JBC, and don't much care, but I hope there is a sufficient number of users who feel the same as I do to encourage those of who have the talent to do such things to actively pursue the possibility of porting Linux or Android, or whatever else is out there to a truly mediocre ereader into a market leader.

My opinions, and I'm entitled to them
