entering text is like using a cell phone. you press a number and it shows you letters. I don't buy any books so I am not really up on how but if you search the forum there are posts that tel how in detail.

I tried that but it doesn't give me any letters, it just keeps putting in numbers.

Ahhh, I see. Thanks! One would think that they would have a better instruction sheet.

There was an instruction sheet?

It barely qualified as in instruction sheet. Not real detail to it at all, thus my need to ask for help from this forum.

I bought a book from B&N and can't open it because it asks for a password. I have read here that some people have been able to use their credit card prefaced by their name but I can't figure out how to enter text. Can someone help me, please?

You can check to see what firmware version you have in the settings menu.

You might also take a look at Fictionwise & eReader for books. I haven't bought any books from B&N as they sometimes come in a different format than what the JBL can use.

I had the same problem: use the menu button to change from number entry to text entry. You will have to put your name--same as on credit card--then hit ok, then switch menu to numbers, and enter your credit card number using those keys on the right side of the jbl, same way you enter your name. Name entry is slightly more complicated as you must use arrow buttons to select the correct letters, then hit enter. Also make sure you use the space key, I think it is the zero or one button. At least that's how I did it and have downloaded quite a few books from B&N.
