Just a wild guess, but maybe the programers should look at how the highlighting input buffer works -and/or- how
the writing buffer/formatting works. It could be that when a line of text is being highlighted/selected the input is
processed in chunks of text of a certain size. The chunks would then need to be properly connected together to
store the entire amount highlighted. If the input was continuous and there was any delay in starting the next
chunk, a character might be lost. If the character were the space between words then those words might be
forced together as described. There might also be something eliminating leading spaces when the chunks are
written or the line reconstructed.
Just something they might want to look for.
Luck;
Ken

Hi, Jerry
I would like to inform you another issue that I currently encountered. Sentences that are in quote below are the sentences that I extracted from my textbook.pdf
"TOPIC SENTENCES AND WHERE TO FIND THEM
Writers often state their main idea in one or two sentences so that readers can be very clear about the main point of the text......................."
issues happen like this:
The first time I highlighted TOPIC SENTENCES AND WHERE TO FIND THEM to mark for summary, then when I checked Show Summary, the sentence appeared like this: TOPIC SENTENCES AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Writers. After that I think I maybe make a mistake of highlighting. Then I highlighted the sentence as the second time, at this time, I'm sure I highlighted TOPIC SENTENCES AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, then I checked Show Summary, the sentence appeared like this: SENTENCES AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. This shocked me that Writers appeared as extra word for the first time, and TOPIC was omitted for the second time. Then I highlighted the sentence for the third time, when I checked Show Summary, the sentence appeared like the sentence I have highlighted.

Hi,
Thanks for the message. So it appears to be an issue with the Summarize in general. Since the issue shifts how it displays text it is something we will look into.
I would like to see if the new firmware solves this, if not i will have development take a further look at it.
Thanks again!

Hi,
Why is the jetbook color still being sold on ebay by stetson777 with the specification "WI-FI enabled with browser"? There is still no browser and Ectaco dodge the issue with vague "may" "might" "possibly" responses.

Hi,
Thanks for the message. I am not sure whether or not they are a certified Re-seller with Ectaco. I am glad you are pointing this out because i still get people who swear they saw 'with browser' on our site although i know for 100% certainty that this info was removed.
I will check with the person who manages re-sellers and dealers. Thanks again!

I assumed it was your colleague Greg Stetson.
It's the original spec that was on your website when I bought my JBC and posted the original question on this thread.

Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is a technical reason why running a web browser on Windows CE 6.0 would present major issues? (besides flash/animation)
Is it a lack of support from application developers for the embedded OS?
Is Windows CE 6.0 particularly vulnerable to online security threats?
I would be surprised if anyone from ectaco answers these questions but are there any forum members who could shed any light on this?
Regards,
Brian

Hi brianbarian,
What the Jetbook Color needs is a forum dedicated to hacking the firmware much like the Sony prs-plus forum...
"Enhancements for Sony eBook readers seamlessly integrated into default UI, fully configurable"
I normally never buy Sony products, but I love my Sony PRS 950 Daily Edition. I don't have to wait ages for the pages to turn, tap the screen or press buttons to turn pages.
Color is another sore point. The images of the Jetbook Color on the ectaco website do not portray the real color of the screen (dark green or something similar), they are all brilliant colors on a white background.
I would just prefer a refund instead of being told wait for updated firmware

I know there were some posts about the jetBook Lite and working around the firmware (because it used Linux). If i remember correct, someone even downloaded android onto the JBL and connected a keyboard or mouse! It would be interesting to see.

Hi all,
Over six months after posting my original question on this thread I finally got an answer with a PM from Jerry a few weeks ago. Since it was a personal message I didn't share this information on the forum. Jerry has since posted this information on the "web browser for the jetbook color" thread on this forum.
The facts are:
There was a web browser for the jetbook color but it was taken off just before the product was released.
There were security issues with it which were unacceptable to large public school and military clients.
I think that it is reasonable to assume that once a security risk is identified and removed that even more stringent checks and standards would be put in place to approve any replacement browser.
My personal opinion is that these public clients would probably prefer the almost closed system that the Jetbook Color is and we are all now stuck with our crippled color ebook readers which are good for reading in the sun and little else.
all the best,
Brian McConnon

It would be nice to have the Linux sourcecode used for the JBL. May be Ectaco or the chinese brand behind the JBL should make it available to everyone, of course, only the GNU part.
Keep your mind and products OPEN!
Regards.

Hello,
why the PDF I attached doesn't show properly on Jetbook Color? Infact if you open it on PC and then in JBC, you will notice that the cover picture is missing.
Why?
