Ok I had this problem before, I got my Jetbook Lite replaced. Now its happened AGAIN. Once and for all, what the FRACK is causing the jetbook lite to hang on the Jetbook screen. I am not real keen on paying to ship the reader back to get it replaced every month. Can this be solved once and for all or do I need to just get a refund and get a reader that works?

My jetbook lite(two month old) has a same problem. In the middle of reading a book, it suddenly turned off and after that I couldn't get anything other than the first screen(jetbook lite logo and company logo). I tried to upgrade firmware but my computer can't recognize the device right now. I emailed tech support team but there is no reply so far. I emailed "Pavel"(tech support person) when I found his email address in this forum and am waiting for his email. Any suggestion would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you.

Well the answer to my email was they are coming out with a new version of the firmware next week that is supposed to fix it. I hope to God they don't require shipping it back to them again. If I ship it back again at my expense its going to be for a refund. I already paid to ship it back one time for this exact same problem. All I know is I can't reinstall the current firmware, so I have my doubts about being able to install the new firmware when it comes out. And at this point I have my doubts about it fixing the problem even if I get it on the reader. This problem 2 times in 3 months is too many times. I can't use a reader that is in the mail or won't boot up.

I just double checked his email. Apparently it's been changed recently. It's now alexi@ectaco.com. You can always find the current email address for them by clicking on the profile button on any message written by them.

The two Ectaco people I've seen here are Pavel (user name green), and Val (user name valyar email valyar@ectaco.com).

Pavel has always been responsive to e-mails from me. That's not my problem. My problem is this is 2 times I have had lock-up problem. Already paid to return reader 1 time. But the problem has re-occurred. ie happened 2 times about a month apart.
And I have yet to have anyone tell me how I am supposed to load the new firmware when its available. Current won't load.

Unbelievable, they asked me to pay *both* shipping costs, to return the unit and to have it back repaired/replaced.

And still they haven't confirmed that with the new firmware it'll not happen anymore.

Many thanks for your effort. I tried it. With only the jetbook lite plugged in I dont get a usb boot option under removable drives. With my ubs card reader plugged in I get the option. I even tried plugging in the card reader selecting usb as a boot device then unplugging and plugging jetbook lite in same port and then booting pc. Still cant load firmware on jbl. it still hangs on logo screen.

At least you gave me something to try which is more than tech support has managed. All they did was tell me the new firmware would fix the problem and then have NEVER told me a viable way to get the new firmware on the jetbook lite.
