I've got a Partner B-3 that I'm trying to turn on. It goes through all the initial diagnostics without a problem (all PASSED), but it stops with the following message
"Download Mode (57600 bps)"
"Waiting for XMODEM-1K download"
I can't find any reference to "download mode" or "XMODEM" in the user's guide.
How do I get this mysterious XMODEM-1K file to download?
Also, as a side-note, when in this mode, the power button will not work to turn it off. Should it, or is the only way to turn it off to remove the batteries?
Thank you

Hey,
Thanks for the message. It may be a piece of software that is supposed to be on the MMC card. The card could be corrupted.
The best way to check for sure is with the tech support. You can email tech@ectaco.com for more information. Hope this helps!

I thought of that - but it's doing it for all three language cards.
I'll check with support, though.
Thanks

Hey,
Ok, could be the firmware on the device having issues or even the device itself.
I'm sure tech support will probably have the same options but first is probably to re-load firmware on the device (if possible) or if under warranty replace the hardware.
Hope this helps!

LOL. I could hope it was covered under warranty, but I think the B-3 model is 10 or 15 years old.
It's totally possible the device is kaput. The friends I'm selling it for used it way-back-when and have had it in a box for years. It's unlikely the mem cards are bad, or even the device, from use since its basically new. But older electronic devices can have the oddest failures.
I submitted a tech support request this morning, but haven't heard back yet.

Hey,
Maybe just a bit out of warranty then
The tech support should get back to you within 24 hours, hopefully they would have a solution for you.
