I bought the Partner LUX for Lithuanian English translation. We have some folks coming in less than two weeks who speak no English and our Lithuanian is very poor. The machine will connect to my local Wi Fi and I can connect to the internet. But my LUX model does not work in the same way that the LUX model on the internet video works. When I press the Translate button, the procedure is different than what I saw for the English Russian example on the internet site. Specifically, I cannot speak Lithuanian into the machine. The microphone icon is not highlighted and consequently it is a no go. Is that the way it works (doesn't work)?

Hey,
Thanks for the message. With the fast pace of the technology you may have an updated firmware which could look different then in the demo. We've actually had over 6 revisions of the firmware since its release.
I recommend contacting the technical support directly. You can call 1-728-728-3605 or email tech@ectaco.com
Hope this helps!

Jerry,
Thanks for your message. Actually, the fact that my LUX works differently from the one on the website demo is the minor problem. What I was trying to say is my LUX does not work properly compared to the one on the website demo. On the website demo there is a smooth voice recognition translation back and forth between English and Russian. It was my understanding from reading Ectaco's descriptions on its website that the LUX would handle voice recognition smoothly from all languages to all other languages. So, I ordered a LUX to handle Lithuanian to English and English to Lithuanian. Now I find that's not the case. The LUX will not perform Lithuanian speech recognition. The solution is to type the Lithuanian into the keyboard. But that's not what was advertised. It's also a little cumbersome to type out one’s conversation. If I’d know this, I might not have ordered it. As it turns out, one of our two visitors speaks Russian but I’m not sure what to do now. We’ve ordered and received the Lithuanian LUX. Do you have any suggestions on that? By the way, the instruction booklet that accompanies the LUX is pretty much worthless. It explains some features, and it’s well written, but it never addresses the questions that I ask. I’ve called Ectaco repeatedly and their people are always very nice but I guess I don’t know how to ask the right questions, because it’s very difficult to get anything resolved.

What do you mean when you say that I can call technical support directly? "You can call 1-728-728-3605..." That's not a good number.

Hey Mark,
The features will vary based on the language pair ordered. We do have about 45 languages currently available for the Partner LUX. Since the release we've had a ton of software revisions to the device. All software revisions or firmware updates are completely free of charge to you.
Hope this helps!

Hey Mark,
I have got the same issues with my English Finnish LUX model. It does not appear as was advertised. Mine has a few Finnish language teaching features and the rest is Spanish. I am not satisfied with that as well cause the advertisement did not tell anything of that. I tried to contact Ectaco but was told that it was my problem to read between lines. From my point of view it is called cheating on customers. I think we can apply to institutions for fair trading and customer rights breach.
Ectaco, I am gonna be posting negatively of LUX everywhere on internet telling customers the truth that you do not disclose. And do not post your regrets regarding my purchase I do not need it.

Hi,
The video of the Partner LUX shows one language option, there is variation in the languages you choose. it is important to read the description of the exact device before you are buying it or ask your salesperson about it. We put forth allot of effort to write in-depth descriptions so you know exactly what you are getting.
Additionally, every purchase is covered under the return policy. If you do not like the items we allow you to return them for a refund.
You can work with our technical service to help you use the equipment. Feel free to call or email.
Hope this helps!
