I am an ICU RN, Wanting to know is this the right product I need for being able to communicate with my patients and family whom are mostly hispanic and do not speak english. And my spanish is extremely limited. I want to be able understand the words my patient/family of patient are saying and be able to give them information about medical conditions and other needs without an interpureter with me. Can this product be voice activated from other people such as the patient asking me a question and will I be able to not so much as speak but have a synthesize my speech so they can understand my information being given to them.
Thank you

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for your interest in ECTACO electronic translators.

The English <-> Spanish voice activated translators that we carry can be used by any Spanish speaking person.

However, the speech recognition is limited to the number of phrases included in the phrasebook.

Unfortunately, there is no translating machine available on the market that can recognize and translate anything that you speak into it.

Once you are mainly interested in communicating with your patients, I'd recommend to try ECTACO Medical SpeechGuard MD-5 which you may find online at
http://www.ectaco.com/products/16760

The device stores thousands of first responder and medical commands and phrases on the following topics: Registration, History, Medications, Pregnancy, Physical Exam, Fire, Trauma, Triage, etc.

Best regards,
Val Reaves,
Sales Manager,
ECTACO, Inc.
mailto:sales@ectaco.com
http://www.ectaco.com

Follow Us On Twitter! http://twitter.com/Ectaco
