Hi Jerry,
Is there a commitment to include the Opera browser in the next update?

Brian

Hi Jerry,
I enjoyed "Autopower off" feature of JBC, thaks to it I no need to shutdown manually the device and I started to use this eReader as I use a plain book: when I finished to read what I like, I throw away the eReader and take no other action
Only there is some case in which I need more of 20minute of timeout.
In next release is it possible a custom defined timeout instead of list?Alternatively, if it is too hard to implement, is possible to append to the list 1 hour, 1 hour and half and 2 hours?
Thanks
AM

Hello,
when reading auto power off it remembered me to send a feature request.
Powering down and up takes a long time so I leave my jetbook on.
But when I put it into my bag the cover presses buttons all the time, changing pages or leaving the document, ...
It would be nice to have a keylock when sliding the power button shortly.
Is there no feedback like this from pupils carrying the JBC around in a backpack?
Best Regards,
Daniel

Hey,
Thanks for the message, i think they omitted an auto power off because technically the device is only 'active' when a page is being turned, screen is touched etc. Since it is eInk you can (hypothetically) be reading the same page forever without the battery depleting.

Hi Daniel,
This is a good point that i haven't heard before. I'm sure if you are having this issue others would be also.
I'm going to make a note in our feedback system now about this, i also feel some sort of key lock with be something to consider also.
Thanks for the feedback!

I didn't explain well. At the present moment jetbook color has an "auto power off" feature: you can find it under "Settings->Auto Power" menu. But it permits to set timeout only for 5, 10, ... and 20 minutes. I set 20minuts for my JBC.
It would be great if it would permit an custom-defined value instead of list or, alternately, the vale "1 hour, 1 hour and half and 2 hours"
Thank you for your replay

Hi everyone,
I just tried the speak menu option in a pdf and a epub file. The results are awful. Either the software needed a lot more optimization before it was included or the hardware is underpowered. I hope it is the former and something will be done about it soon; if it's the latter ...well that would be disgraceful and I don't use the term lightly.
The phrase "Buying a pig in a poke" comes to mind.
I'm not happy and as a student I feel that I've wasted money that I can ill afford.

Hey,
Oh i understand, so you can enter your own value for when to shut off. I will recommend it to development especially because i heard the same feedback for older models.

Hey,
Thanks for the message. Can you describe the problem you are having a bit more? The TTS is a fluent human voice and to be honest with you is one of the best i have heard on any device.

To get the best result I did a reset of the JBC and opened the attached short text file. I began recording as soon as I selected speak from the menu and I have attached the audio file. This is the most fluent result I have gotten so far. I would expect a better result than this from a quality product. I used a simple text file after a reset so there was very little memory used.
The pauses and clicks get worse when I tried a pdf.

I've had exactly the same thing several times - stuttering, pausing etc - but usually it is lovely and fluent while it's reading. I assumed it was doing something else in the background and the processor can hardly cope with doing one thing at a time let alone two.
What I find annoying is the massive pause in between each chunk of text. It seems to highlight a chunk on screen (a sentence?), read that chunk fluently, clear the hilighting, highlight the next chunk and read that, and so on. Because it takes it so long to clear the highlight and draw the next one you get big gaps which break up the flow of the reading.

Hey,
Thanks for the message, its hard to hear on my PC even with the volume turned all the way up. I could make out a 'skipping' of sorts, almost sounded like when a cell phone starts loosing reception.
I was told the reset should fix this issue for you. Also that is should be solved in the next update.
Hope this helps!
