Hi all,

I wish to report an issue with Mobipocket ebooks under firmware version 0.16e (jetBook Lite).

On my previous device I used firmware 0.14i until the device freezed and was replaced by a new one. I use mainly Mobipocket ebooks, most of them are large technical books with a lot of pictures, all worked fine on the old JBL.

Well, now with my new JBL upgraded to firmware version 0.16e I get the error "File too large" with most of the Mobipocket books that worked fine with my prior JBL and firmware version 0.14i.

I haven't had much to do with Mobipocket ebooks but have you tried using Calibre to
convert them to .epub? The 0.16e uses the Adobe Reader Mobile v.9.1.1, which has
a number of improvements over the older .epub reading programs.

I have a couple of very large manuals that I have on my JBL as an HTML folder, one is
23MB.

Thanks Ken,

my intention was to show Ectaco the issue, the average user do not know Callibre and most of them do not really like to use a program to bypass a problem. The device should work out of the box.

Well, about your comment, I had to switch to ePub since this issue. But I do not really like the ePub software bundled in versión 0.16e, no dictionary support, cannot change to Arial or Verdana instead of the Times font, page turn is some times too slow, bookmarking is extremly slow sometimes too, etc.

Right, they need all the feedback they can get. I hadn't noticed the epub lack
of the dictionary feature, until you mentioned it. The dictionary still works with
an HTML document. (The internal Hyperlinks don't work but show up as if a
colored font was used.)

I did reflash from the 0.16e back to the 0.15d once, just to check it out, so
you could do that, if you wanted the earlier reading software. I like the 0.16e
myself.

Thanks, currently I do not have any HTML document, most are plain text, ereader and mobipocket format. Bu is nice to know that.

As I do not know exactly what has changed from 0.15d to 0.16e I'm not sure if it is worth to "downgrade" the jetBook. One advantage of Adobe epub reader software included in firmware 0.16e is that for now I can read large documents, before with 0.14i I got the "File too large" message with them.

You can convert a .mobi ebook to HTMLZ using Calibre. The "Z" is for zipped, I think.
If you unzip that you will have a folder for your JBL, that contains all the files for the
book. (When you look at the folder on your JBL it will only show the .html file to select
and read the book.) If there is no .html file with the book name, it will be the "index.
html" file.

Thanks Ken I appreciate a lot your help but Ectaco should investigate the problem a fix the issue.

If Ectaco is really interested in solving this and ohter problems I can send them files on request in order to reproduce the problem.
