Hi Everyone,
The jetBook Color is now available for pre-order!! Just got to https://www.ectaco.com/jetBook_Color/
Or you can send an email to Jerry@ectaco.com to order the item with a special promotional offer!
As most of you know, the jetBook Color is the first and only eBook reader in mass production to use a color eInk screen! Do you eyes ever hurt or do you get a headache staring at a computer screen for too long? Well not with the jetBook Color! This screen allows you all of the luxuries of a color LCD screen but isn't taxing on your eyes.
Check out a ton of awesome pictures of the item already being implemented in schools worldwide. http://ectaco-global.blogspot.com/2011/11/jetbook-color-in-russian-schools-photos.html

Hi Jerry,
I'll have a few questions, which I'll ask as I think of them...
- How easy is the Jetbook to operate if we lose the stylus?
- Can we use the Jetbook in landscape mode?
- Does the offer you're talking about (if we email you) apply only to the U.S. or does it work for the London, UK office too? I'm based in the UK.
Thanks!

Hey, Thanks for the message!
-Since the jetBook Color uses a special touch screen it would require the Stylus for touch screen operation.
-Yes you can.
-Yes the offer is not dependent on location in which thew order is placed.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your quick answer Jerry!
Sorry this answer is not clear, "-Since the jetBook Color uses a special touch screen it would require the Stylus for touch screen operation. " Do you mean that the jetBook is unusable if we lose the stylus? I've got the special skill of dropping styluses (with the Palm Pilots years ago) in places like on the railtrack on the subway etc. I read somewhere that another eink device was using a magnetic pen like for the wacom tablets, is this the same technology? What is the name of the technology used? Can I replace the stylus with a generic one, or dpes the stylus require specific setups that means I won't be able to?
Thanks again!

Hey.
Mot features will be easy to navigate with the hard buttons on the device. The touch screen uses a special screen (EMT) which requires the use of the pen. It allows for a touch screen that does not distort the quality of the image like other touch screens do. The stylus slips into a slot in the back of the item and others will be available. It should not work with other, generic stylus pens unless they are designed for use on an EMT screen.
Hope this helps!

Hi Jerry,
Sorry I'm a little late to this thread. Here are my questions.
1) Can you list all the supported file-formats ?
2) Is it true that the supported resolution is
1600x1200 in greyscale and
800x600 in color ?
3) Can we change the intensity/contrast of the greyscale ?
4) Is it possible to install apps like customer ereader software and
remove unnecessary e-reader software ?
5) Can you post a video review of its e-reading capabilities ? it would certainly
help a lot of buyers to decide.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for the questions, i will answer one by one.
1) The current supported formats will be Adobe DRM 9.1, ePub, Mobi, PRC, RTF, TXT, PDF, FB2, djvu, JPG, Gif, PNG, BMP. We will be adding more in firmware updates based on user feedback and requests.
2) I do know the device spec sheet says 1600 x 1200, it does not specify any further though.
3) To my knowledge their is no way to change the contrast. I don't know if any eInk devices do this. Is it even possible?
4) The only movable and editable things on the device itself are books. This is an ereader and we are not trying to compete with the tablet market.
5) Here is one of our videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViZnxN0lidc You can see more from reviewers. Simple go onto Youtube, type "jetbook color" and you should see a few different ones.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Thanks for the message, we didn't do any specific testing of compatibility of any Wacom devices, so i would be unable to say. Hopefully we will see more info on it when the product is released!
