Jerry

Just a quick question.

Currently people seem to have a choice of either Russian/English or Spanish/English as their dictionaries on the Jetbook Color depending on what firmware they have used.

Is it possible to have another choice as a secondary language for the dictionaries ie German or Italian ?

Or are Ectaco going to add more language choices in future firmware updates ?

I want to have the primary language set to English (ie all menus in English) with translations available (via the dictionaries) in German or Italian (preferably both) so that I can learn these other languages.

cheers

Hey,

Thanks for the message, from what i heard we will be adding more languages to the device in future versions of firmware. Hopefully we will see one firmware version with multiple languages to choose from. That's something i recommended earlier in the development process which i really hope they consider. With more language options one device will appeal to a multitude of customers.

If i get any words on it i will everyone know.

Thanks for replying so promptly Jerry.

I hope they do have it in the next firmware update or very soon.

Jerry,
I don't know if it is the right place to notify a bug. Anyway the problem happens when:

1) open a PDF
2) select stylus "drawing mode"
3) zoom to 150%
4) use the stylus to take some note
5) zoom out pushing the "Back" button
6) you will see your scribble placed in unexpected position

Please, report me if I have to write this elsewhere.

Thank you

Hey,

Thanks for the message, om my device (43.35.509, r1128 Spanish 1128), i don't have that problem. I followed exactly what you did and the drawing stayed in the correct position on the pdf file.

1) Did you try a different PDF? I did it with the users guide.
2) Do you have the most current firmware version? Check here for info http://www.jetbook.net/update

With simple PDF I have no problem. Could you please try with The PDF I attached? Try to zoom 150% and fill the "IP Address" "Subnet" etc. (they are on the bottom of the page) and the zoom out with back/esc button.

Please, report me if your device works correctly even with this PDF

Thank you

Hey,

I just downloaded your book onto my unit and it seems to work OK. I circled some words and underlined a few things. Then hit the back button to resume normal viewing mode and the annotations were kept in the proper area.

It seems like you may need to update to the latest version.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Jerry,
another thing I am sure it happens on your unit: when you zoom-in in a PDF, the "Menu" key doesn't work. So if I want, for example, enable the stylus I must to push the "Back" button (zoom-out) and the I can use Menu.

Is it possible to fix this issue in the next realease?

Thank you again for your help

Hey,

Yes it does the same. I just reported this to our development team, hopefully we will see a fix in the next release. Thanks!

Have you guys noticed how reds and blues are rendered so-so but greens tend to be greyish on this device?

I have made a little research of how rgb colours are rendered. Here you can find the results. Bottom 3 in the right column are 3 basic rgb colours. You can see that red is created by overlaying everything apart from red pixels with black. The same applies to blue. Only blue pixels are not overlaid. Green seems to be an exception here. The white spaces between colour pixels are not overlaid with black. I think this is why pictures that have a lot of green in them look so grey.

Maybe you can experiment with that in future software updates?

Jerry, I continued to have the problem. I attached the video so it will be clear what happens.

My Firmware version (as I show in the last part of the attached video) is:
Platform revision: 43.35.509
r1128 Spanish 1128

Hi,

Thanks for the message, this is highly unusual i don't have an explanation for it. I did write to the people in the tech team to get their take on it.

I recommend one of three things.
1) You can re-download the newest firmware version, it is possibly their was an error writing the file to the device.
2) You can send the item back and we can replace it with a brand new one under warranty (we will also have to analyze yours).
3) You can wait for another firmware revision, it should be released in the beginning of April so its not too far away.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I can reproduce the same behaviour on my reader.
It seems that the scrolling information is not included in the stored data.
It seems that the data is just stored relative to the screen and shown from the upper left corner after zooming out.

By the way it's not user friendly to have to unzoom and zoom again to switch the stylus between erasing and drawing because of having to use the menu.
The menu drawing also costs a long time. If I want to take notes during conference or someone else during school lesson the event to write down is already far history before I have selected the drawing mode.
Please add some sidebar for stylus mode selection (Erase, Draw, Colour, Zoom area, etc).

Best Regards,

Daniel

Thank you penguin_do, with you we are at least four users with this problem. I can't believe there are 4 JBC with the same hardware defect. It must be the software
