I bought the ECTACO Partner ET500 English <-> Turkish - Talking Electronic Dictionary and Audio PhraseBook and it describes the machine as translating both ways, Just type in English or Turkish using the bilingual keyboard and get a translation, definition, part
of speech, gender, and many more grammatical references.

It states that:
With the latest TTS, the 500 series now has the ability to pronounce ANYTHING you type in English. Our dictionary and phrasebook are included in this with no limit to pronunciation. The ECTACO Partner ET500 is a unique bilingual translator that combines all the most useful linguistic resources in a single, affordable handheld package for complete understanding anytime, anywhere. It has 630,000 words that can be instantly translated in EITHER direction make the ET500 the perfect choice for anyone who needs on-the-spot translations between English and Turkish. I can't see anywhere in this description where it states clearly that it ONLY speaks in English. Why would the very detailed description be in English for someone who needs to buy a machine to learn English if they can't speak it? Why would it describe the machine as being capable of going anywhere in the world if it was only for Turkish speaking people to learn English?

If nothing else the description is terribly misleading. Is there no way to make the machine speak in Turkish now?

I bought what I thought was a two way translating speaking dictionary so that I could go to Turkey and speak to the people with whom I need to work and meet. I believe the description of the machine is misleading and if it cannot be made to speak Turkish aloud, please will you advise me as to how to return it at no cost to myself as I do believe this is a misrepresentation of your product and I would have bought a different item instead.

Thanks for the message and i appreciate your feedback!

The first sentence mentions the device can speak in English for you. Also in the technical specifications just below it has a category that says "voice: English". The description does not mention or insinuate that the unit speaks in Turkish.

Hello Jerry,

I am terribly sorry to disagree with you about how misleading the information seems to people buying your devices but I would be most grateful if you could understand that people who are not technically adept do not accept that bidirectional devices mean just speaking in English.

All I would like from you now is the RMA number so that I can return the ET500 for a full refund. I have sadly read many complaints on websites about Ectaco and I hope that they are old complaints that have been satistfactorily resolved and that you will stand behind your products and your company and provide me with the RMA number so that I can have a full refund. I have asked this of numerous people of Ectaco and would be grateful for a reply.

I bought the item from Australia but it was invoiced incorrectly from the US and sent via fedex from NYC. The phone number to request the RMA number is a US one and I am in NZ/ The time differences and my working hours means I cannot make the long distance call during USA working hours. Please, please send me the RMA number and allow me to return the device which I cannot use in Turkey while there on business as it does not speak Turkish only English and that I already know so do not need to hear English. Thank you for helping me with this and for respondind quickly.

Thank you Jerry for the email address of the person in the support department or from customer services who should be able to provide me with an RMA number so that I can return the ET500. As I live in New Zealand and bought the item from Australia and it was shipped from USA it has been frustrating to find the right contact details to obtain this RMA number. It has not been possible to ring america to obtain the RMA number as stated on the packing slip because of my work and because of the time difference so I hope that the person at the end of this email can quickly send me the RMA number.

If you are only the product specialist and not the management - can you send me the management contact details so that I can continue my dialogue with them? I would appreciate this as I feel it is important that they realise how misleading their description of their product seems to the person buying it. I also had a fairly abrupt and almost rude response from another Ectaco representative who said it was impossible to return the ET500 which was unpleasant espeically as I was still within the 7 day return time.
