Hi there,

Does anybody know if there are softwares of the Partner P900 (English-Spanish) that are for MAC OS?
The Lingvosoft that come in the CD are all windows and I;m on Apple Mac so I can't install them in my computer.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Kind regards
Rafael

Hi Rafael,

Thank you for your inquiry.

You may find the available translation and language learning software for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad online at
http://www.lingvosoft.com/main.jsp?do=Lingvosoft.com-info-itunes-apple

Thanks Val for your prompt reply, very much appreciated.

Maybe you can help me out to understand a bit more.
Are the contents of those applications the same than the ones that come in the CD included in the Partner Box?
And because I couldn't open the CD I don't know to which extend the content differs from what it comes in the Partner itself, is there any different.

Kind Regards

Hi Rafael,

Thanks for the question.

The software included on CD is our bonus and demo software for some other languages that are not included on the Partner ES900.

Unfortunately, we do not offer any software for Apple Mac free, but you are welcome to order any of the available applications through the iTunes store using the link that I provided.

1. I'm also miffed by this! before purchase there was nothing to indicate the equipment would NOT work on APPLE, asking a question revealed no extra info, incl from tech support. I understood the equipment would work with ALL computers, if the advert can be believed. I've looked at "Livingsoft" but it doesn't say anything about downloading to MAC OS X. Only ipod, ipad & iphone are mentioned, so completely in the dark - I don't own any of these.

2. I've other probs too; I've learned that extra language cards (when inserted & removed) render the 900 inoperable until it's reset even though we are told, "On the rare occasion.....". It happens often! Then all my settings are gone and must also be reset individually. But the help doesn't say anything about this.

3. My 900 cannot be read by MAC, so.....? I can't comprehend it . Do I HAVE to purchase the CD as an extra???

Hi,

Thanks for the message, i will try and go through to help you out with everything one by one.

1) Nowhere on our side does it say the lingvosoft software is comparable with mac. If we spent all day telling you with this device does NOT do it would be a description so long no one would read it.

2) Yes, every time you change a language card you should reset the unit. The complete reset should take a maximum of 60 seconds. Instructions are posted here https://www.ectaco.com/posts/list/53838.page Where did you read the "on the rare occasion" part? Did someone tell you this?

3) The only purpose to connect the P900 to any computer would be to charge it or to add music and video clips to the P900. If your goal is to add music or video to the device please remove the SD card from the device. Plug it into your MAC, move the files onto the sd card int he respective area (Just like on a flash drive). Re-insert the sd card to the device and reset.

Hope this helps!

Jerry, seems my answer has strayed. After waiting days for the forum to re-open after "maintenance", I'll try again;

1. You are correct. It doesn't say! If it had been explained, I would've asked further questions prior to purchase. A simple qualification of "May not be compatible with APPLE MAC" or similar would suffice. I've now read your writings (mentioned above) regarding this subject. Prior to which there is no hint of it in the advertising?

2. Nobody 'told' me about "On the rare occasion...". A simple check will reveal that it's written in the on-line info, in the unit itself, and in the hard copy user guide all under the heading "Initialisation". Now, after numerous "re-sets", the unit continually partly crashes, part of the American constitution is garbled, as are numerous flash cards.... but intermittently. Extremely annoying, considering unit cost. 'Tech help' was of no help at all.

3. Sounds unnecessary fiddling when all info says, "... connect the unit to your pc..." when there is absolutely nothing to warn me otherwise. Would save asking numerous questions.

So, I have a unit which is not compatible with ALL pc's. A unit which continues to crash, or partly so. A unit which says comes with "head sets" (they're even clearly shown on the unit side bar) when in fact only earphones are supplied.... which don't work fully and do not stay in the ear. Etc, etc, etc... SO, I have a VERY expensive unit which partly works, doesn't 'talk' to my computer as promised, etc.

Am I stuck with this monster?
In advance, thanks for your answer, rc

Hi,

We fully warranty the product for one year of the purchase date, if for some reason the device isn't working properly because of a defect you should contact the warranty department, they would be glad to help you with replacing it with a brand new one. You can call 718-728-3605 to connect with them.

Also, we have software specialists that may have some more info about the computer connection and connecting the item to your MAC, you can email them at support@ectaco.com

Hope this helps!
