I have started a thread on the ask a pro forum but as I have now recieved my 900 after ordering it for the USA on Monday it arrived here in the South of France this afternoon! 2 days after ordering. What I call service!

Now I have a question. I have connected it to my Macbook and it comes up with a screen telling me "Device is ready to work with PC". The Mac doesn't reckognise it and unless I press the Main Screen button and the 'Dictionaries & Tools' screen appears nothing else happens?

Is this machine, when it is sent out, compatable with a Mac running OS X 10.6 Snow leopard? The CD that came with it is not recognised on the instal folders?

Hey,

Thanks for the question! The main purpose of the interface with the computer is to move movies, music and pictures from the computer to the device. Or for charging. If you can access the folders of the Partner 900 series then you should be god to go. You simply drag and drop a file from the Mac to the appropriate folder on the Partner 900

If for some reason you cannot, please let me know and i can consult with the technical department to check on that exact operating system.

Hope this helps!

I'm afraid that it didn't help this time Jerry. The Mac just doesn't see it in Finder. If I plug any other storage device in it tells me that it is there, but not with the 900.

I have plugged it into my Windows7 laptop and it loaded the driver and recognised it straight away. The driver came from the laptop and not the CD.

I have also tried the 900s CD in my Mac and neither of the autorun programmes are recognised, so do you have a driver that goes with the 900 and my Mac please?

Hey,

Ok i will ask the development team about this. In the meantime you can just bypass the device itself. All of the information is stored on the SD card.

1) Remove the SD card from the side of your device. (NOTE: Be careful it is in 2 pieces an micro SD and SD card reader).
2) Plug the SD card into your MAC. or if you don't have an SD card slot i gave you a USB SD card reader in your package.
3) When the SD card is connected to the MAC is should be recognized and easily accessed.

Please let me know if this works!

Removing the SD card works fine Jerry, but I woud also like to get it operating directly with my Macs. As you say, the SD card is a delicate bit of kit.

Also, I have and aplication for my iPod Touch that does the French conjugation. Is there any way that it could be made to load and run on my EF900?

Hey,

Thanks for the question. Ok i am still waiting a response from development about this. I will let you know when they get back to me.

The Partner 900 is really meant to be used as a self contained unit, so it does not interface with other units. The benefit of this is that you don't need any wifi connections in order to use it or download any other programming. I will comment in your other thread now about conjugations.

Hope this helps!

Jerry, that is the whole idea. That it operates as a single unit, totally independant of any other unit or the web. What I was asking was is it possible to get an app (to use the modern phrasilogie) that is the same sort of thing as the 'app' for conjugation of the French language for my unit?

After all, it is THE corner stone of the French language and without it you are in a deep hole at any more than "here on holiday".

Sorry to be a pain (not a loaf of bread ) but if you can investigate this I think that you will have a GREAT step ahead for this very ipressive unit and make it so much better.

Hey,

That would be a cool idea! Some way to add outside apps onto the device, i will definitely put it as a suggestion for future software updated.

Everyone would be able to customize their device how they saw fit, it would create a really unique learning experience.

I will let you know about the compatibility soon, have a great weekend!

Hi,

So i was told that the P900 has "limited compatibility" with a MAC. It sounded like some combination of hardware and software were comparable however others were not. They mentioned they received feedback like this before so they are considering a project on expanding the compatibility with all mac computers and operating systems.

Hope this helps!

Great stuff Jerry and thank you for the reply. I have only reciently changed over to Macs and have an iMac 21 1/2 as well as a Macbook so that would be a tremendous help. I am sure that there are lots of others in the same boat?

Hi,

It is a great piece of feedback we received, with allot of people using a mac we want to make sure everyone has compatibility with our device.
