GA Russell wrote:Jerry, other eBook readers have a feature that I miss with my JBL.

I would like a list of the most recent eight books I have opened.

With physical books, the ones I am reading I keep on my top shelf. But with the JBL, everything is returned to alphabetical order.

I have started a few books, and I'd like to go back to them if I could remember which they were!

Hmm... that's kinda what the "Recent Readings" does, or at least is supposed to do, sometimes mine gets confused
and forgets the last one I read but has a bunch of earlier ones listed.

Ken, where do you see Recent Readings on the JBL?

PS - OK, I found it.

Unfortunately, mine is showing mostly new books I have recently put on my SD card rather than books recently opened, but it's a start.

Better construction:

- the case does not offer shock dampening at all. My jetbook lite fell face down today, the screen cracked leaving large black blotches. The height is wasn't too much, around 1 meter.

maybe some rubber around the frame where the glass screen is mounted.

Anyway, time to look for another reader.

Hey,

Im sorry to hear about the fall! Iv doped mine before from higher with no problem but it is really all in the way the thing falls (or what it falls on). A friend of mine droped her $500 or whatever iPhone 4 from no more then a meter and the screen shattered!

If you decide to get another one we can take the old one back for some credit towards the purchase of a new model. If you want please let me know and i can get you a quote for everything.

Thanks and sorry again to hear about the jetBook!!

Thanks for the offer, jerry!

But I live in brazil and the cost of an international parcel from here would turn to nothing any financial advantage from the offer, it would just consume time and paperwork in the end.

I think that the battery compartment does the damage, with the batteries weight pressing the LCD glass against the plastic frame. Anyway, I also suggest to change the way the batterie cover closes. Even if the device does not break with a fall the batterie cover tends to open and there goes the cover and batteries around the floor.

It is not nice inside our house, imagine that happening inside a bus or train full of people...

Maybe some latch in the battery cover like the portable nindendos have.

Hey,

That sounds like a good idea, a latch of some sort that slides and locks the battery lid in place.

Hope you guys know i do take every single piece of feedback and pass it along up the food chain, hopefully we will see some of these ideas and suggestions in any model we release in the future!

I would like to be able to read in low light so I would like to have a white or light grey font color option on a black/dark background. I would also appreciate having the font sizing option back instead of the current zooming by steps and having to go through all the steps just to get back to the previous one. Sometimes my eyes focus better than they did the last time I read on my JBLite. (These suggestions might also apply to the Jetbook and JB-mini as well, but since I don't have them I can't be certain.)
Thanks!

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback! I wonder if/how having the background color be reversed would affect the longevity of the battery or the device itself. It is a very interesting idea, our earlight (reading light) offers a partial solution to reading in low light situations.

Thanks, Jerry! I have seen this option referenced as a "text inversion" option.
However, the earlight you referenced doesn't work well for me. It just causes a glare on the screen.
I would like to also suggest a "bookshelf" view of the book covers if possible.

I would argue against a "bookshelf" view, one of the best features of the jetBooks, is the fact that it uses a
rational file structure that the user can control and organize as he wishes. It is a feature that those who
have bought other readers, after having a jetBook, miss the most.

I'd buy another JBL if it had an epaper display like the Alurtek Libre. Its not perfect but whiter would be nice. Otherwise I'm quite happy with it. I just hope Ectaco doesn't create a replacement model that only supports 2 formats and .gif. Ooooops!

Hmm... do you mean the 7" Color Libre? The 5" Libre Pro and all the jetBook readers (including the mini) share the same "epaper" display.

Well, that's interesting. I don't mean the 7" color. I wondered about that. The demonstrations seemed to show the same screen as the JB but the Libre box certainly shows a white screen. Is that a misrepresentation? Really, it is white on the boxes.

How about a Password? I have some age inappropriate books, and my nieces and nephews love to read. I would prefer to avoid changing the memory cards any more than necessary.

Also many people don't want a clock, however a countdown timer would be nice. I read during my breaks, and sometimes get quite engrossed. Just a little something that pops up a message when the time is up would be terrific.

FRG

Edited to add.....

Oh yeah, how about a built in light? Ear light is ok, but never around when the lights go out.

What about selectable readers? Especially for PDF Adobe <-> Foxit (i suppose this was the reader in 0.16)

And a configurable minimum frame rate (against energy consumption of course), but at some light-conditions it would be nice.

BTW, the german translations of 0.16e are still containing this typos:

"IInterner Datei-Manager" -> "Interner Datei-Manager"
"Inhaltsverzeichinis" (in window title) -> "Inhaltsverzeichnis"

Thanks,
