I have tried updating according to the instructions on the website and cannot get it done. I have loaded the 3 files for 33.g and put it in an empty sd card, and in the jetbook main drive with "useful" websites etc. I have tried in the settings to use the upgrade patch too. I have tried everything several times. Help

This is now my third jetbook. I am so tired of sending back, getting a new one. I wish there was something I could do on my end. I purchased my first Jetbook at the end of April, now am on my third. Is there no end? I have only gotten to read maybe 10 pages of a book, so far.

I have owned a jetBook (regular model - not the lite - powered w/AA Batteries).

I received my unit in early February 2010 and I have had no problems with it other than the limited epub/pdf issues.

My unit came with Firmware .34 and Patch 15 installed.
Just a week ago I updated the firmware to .35a to give it ADE DRM ePub/PDF support as well as "Text Flow on/off" support for PDF and active TOC support for both ePub and PDF documents that have active TOC built in. I was able to install the firmware as per the procedure and all went fine. Now it's a "Kick ass device" with DRM support for ADE ePub/PDF docs and I can finally manage to read large format PDF doc easier.

In early Jan of 2010 I purchased an Aluratek Libre Pro at my local Costco. I had it for approximately two weeks. It gave me no problems and I was still doing re-search on e-books, e-readers and the various supported formats.

During this phase I came across the jetBook - jetBook-Lite. It appeared to be the same device hardware wise. What enticed me was the addition of a Dictionary. My expectations were "Unit of identcal features plus a Dictionary"

I returned the Aluratek and purchased online a jetBook.

I was disappointed to find I had lost all DRM access, The Dictionary was useless as most words I needed to look up were not in it. I lost Text Flow ability for PDF docs. To return this unit and re-buy a Libre would cost shipping and re-stocking fee. So I kept it and researched removing DRM. I also purchased a second unit - an Aluratek Libre Pro.

The unit I first bought had no hardware issues. My other two (JB and ALP) have no hardware issues either (same platform).

All buttons work - the screen display is excellent, battery life is as advertised, wide range of formats supported, compact and with JB firmware .35a ability to read large format PDF docs with ease across both units as well as ADE DRM support.

So that's three out of three

I purchased three JBLs for myself and family members and a friend purchased one as well. Other than the slight "flicker" problem that occasionally shows up and the bug in the latest firmware all four have been flawless in their operation.

We're still anxiously waiting for the PDF re-flow and ADE DRM support, but I wouldn't give up my JBL for any other brand out right now.

So that's four out of four JBLs that are problem free.

Hi Misha5,

I'm sorry about the difficulty. You are having trouble updating your jetBook or your jetBook Lite? You say you are trying to upgrade to 0.33g so i would assume its a jetBook.

Please note the newest version of jetBook is 0.35d. Please see here for download instructions and a link. https://www.ectaco.com/ectaco-posts/list/19980.page

Im not sure but it seems like you got the files onto the card but i really dont know where you are getting stuck.

Did you make sure to delete all files off of the SD card before proceeding?
Did you get to the firmware update screen?

Please let me know as many details as possible so i can help you out a bit more.

I'm going crazy...I have tried this update numerous times but always fails. I have.33g and have read that I have to upgrade to earlier versions except that I can't find earlier versions.

Everyone is complaining about not being able to do a firmware update but no one has mentioned which firmware they are coming from.

I went from .34 to .35a and I was a able to do the firmware update three times without it locking up my unit. I have to admit though that I decided to apply the custom .35a2 which supports serif font within ePub.

The fist time I just placed the .35a2 bin on a blank sd card along with the two other files (Fonts folder and the "userstyle.css"). I didn't realize that these two items were to reside on the units internal memory after the fw update. So I had all three items sitting in the root of an sD card and did a reset followed by a "Hold the > right arrow down while pressing and holding the power button until the 'Firmware Update warning message' comes up.

That completed successfully but then I realized my error so I unpacked the real .35a firmwware - took off the font folder and .css file and replaced the .35a with .35a2 bin and restarted the up

tacrcrow so you are currently at 33g.

My unit came with .34 installed and I have not seen or heard of any other FW levels for the JB other than .35a.

That said take the plunge. Unless it is specificly required to be at a certain FW level prior to apply a new FW that requirement should be noted in the instructions. I did not see any pre-requirement. So you should be good for .35a

I am not an Ectaco Tech but there are some that monitor this forum and they should be able to clear this matter up.

Where is tech support and why is the website not reflecting the latest updates as well what the updates wii do for us.
