Can regular (not lite) jetbook (like JB5) read SDHC cards, and if yes, is it up to 16GB?

Yes. I have a JB (not the Lite) and I have a 16 GB SDHC card functioning in it. I use a card reader to add books to the SDHC card and then insert it in the JB. Works like a charm.

I use a Lexar micro 4 gig sdhc placed in an SD card adaptor and it works fine. The largest card I have is an 8 gig Micro SDHC but I use it for my Nintendo DS-Lite. The most I ever paid for an 8 gig sdhc was $10 - $15 Aug - Nov 2009 but now they have all doubled in price. I am glad I bought up what I could find back then.
