I see the Jetbook lite supports B&N drm. Will a software upgrade be available for the regular Jetbook? My biggest complaint with the Jetbook is that it cannot read any of the secure formats. So much so I have begun to think of my purchase as a big mistake and researching the purchase of a completely different reader that would allow me to read new books.

I agree. I bought this ebook reader for my wife and was never told you couldnt download secure ebooks. I have been told for 8 months that there was an upgrade for the product. Today I called about the upgrade and was told that it might be here next month. A week ago I was told this week. I would sure like to not get run around any more.

1. Download and unpack the firmware package and then transfer
the Data, firmware, and reflash_nor folders to the root directory of an SD card. Make sure your SD card does not contain any files other than those found in the firmware package.

2. Place the SD card into your jetBook SD slot.

3. Press the Reset button. The device will turn off. Do not turn
it on.

4. Press and hold the On/Off button and right arrow key
simultaneously until the jetBook logo appears on the screen.

5. The update process will take about 10 – 15 minutes.
WARNING! Do not press any keys on your jetBook while updating is in progress!

6. When the update process is complete, press the Reset button.
The device will turn off.

7. Press and hold the On/Off button for 3 seconds. Release the
button. jetBook will start within 1 minute.

8. Firmware update process is completed at this point.

Does anyone have a step by step for downloading to the JB-lite from the B&N site? From eReader.com it appears pretty cut and dry, as does actually put things in a bookcase folder and I am prompted prior to download as to where the files should reside.

This isn't exactly step by step, but this is how you can do it: I did install the B&N reader for PC. This allows you to see your library on your PC once you've purchased the book. After you buy a book, you will receive an email about it, but the ebook immediately appears in your bookshelf at the B&N site. Pick out the book that you want to download and click download. The book will download and appear in the My B&N Books in your my documents folder. You can also download the book from you library on the PC reader software. Once it is downloaded to the My B&N Books folder, connect your Jetbook Lite to your computer and copy your book to wherever you want the book to reside on the device

PLEASE BE AWARE that at this point only PDB files from B&N can be opened on the JBL and even those don't read properly as they have text missing on the bottom of the page. Firmware to correct this problem is expected at any time. I hope this was helpful.

Thanks I appreciate the help. There must be issues with the B&N site, because nothing appears to download into the B&N Folder on my computer. I will try again tomorrow.

While hunting for a solution I did come across a couple of posts on firmware updates. Currently the device is running v0.14i. I did find .14n and am thinking about loading it. Any issues you might be aware of?

I'm not sure of what improvements came with this new firmware .14n, but the problem with the missing text at the bottom of pages of DRMed pdbs is still there. As for other problems, I haven't had any issues reading my non-DRM content.

JeaPea,

I find missing text even in the non-drm pdb files generated by Calibre.

When you say you don't lose text in non-drmed files, are you referring to epub or pdb?
