Jetbook Color

Have upgraded OS to OS 49.35.509 from 43.35.509 without hassles. Firmware download going on 1.5 GB Transfer rate around 265kB/s.
First impressions (w/o firmware upgrade): 1. Definitely faster response to key/touch i/p. 2. Text search faster - highlight still one occurrence at a time even within same page. (a word across 25 pages in about 4 seconds). 3. Drawing (or notes) more controlled and responsive. Still only under lining - no highlighting. 4. Page turns noticeably faster - However can't see multiple page skipping - perhaps with the firmware. (All these remarks only for pdf files}

No problem in firmware upgrade. My misunderstanding - the three, five page option is to do with refresh - you still have to turn page by page. I forgot about the warning

- OS upgrade does not remove your books, but firmware upgrade sure does..

Anyone can help me?
Can i reset the device to factory defaults (like it is possible with the jetbook lite)?

The device hangs at startup, i cant access the device via usb, when i press the reset button i can see the blue light is
flashing several seconds, and thats all i can do.
(i cant try upgrade the OS with the SD-Card, just nothing).

Jerry have you an advice?

Is is possible to delete the textbooks and other education related titles from the Jetbook Color? I just picked one up and am currently installing the firmware updates.

Also, anyone tried it yet with epub format comics?

Any chance of a dedicated comic reader?

I am very impressed with how fast I got my warranty replacement jetbook but still I have no answer to my original post.

When will the opera browser be implemented? Will it be opera mobile?

Is the jetbook color hardware the same as the Hanvon WISEreader C920?

It uses WinCE 6.0 also and has an opera browser.

Thanks for the message, i think you should try the OS update.

If the jetBook Color has some sort of diagnostics screen i am unaware of how to access it at this point. I will see if i cant find out a bit more info.

I am still waiting to hear official word on the browser, i have not been given any public information on it yet.

As soon as i know anything i will be sure to let you guys know first.

I still can't complete the OS upgrade. It doesn't even start. The device just restarts normally. Any particular tips and tricks this time?

You misunderstood...
The OS update "broke" the device, i cant turn it off, i cant make a reset, i cant do nothing.
And the technical support is "at holidays"

The device shows "starting..." and the ectaco logo.
Bad support...

I was wondering if it's possible to add a feature for viewing images where it scales the image to fit the screen?

When viewing images, if they are too small I can either zoom in, but then I have to zoom again with the next image, and again with the one after that etc... or resize them before I upload them to the JB Color. If scaling them isn't easy to add, even the ability for it to retail the level of zoom between images would be a huge help.

I 2nd the notion of a "fit to page" type option under the Zoom.

Still just getting started with my Jetbook Color. Have been reading an epub converted to generic large screen with Calibre, and it all looks good - BUT page numbers not in the text are displayed throughout the epub, sometimes overwriting the text itself. Is there a way to turn off the display of page numbers? Or did I perhaps do something wrong in the conversion?

This piece of junk if completely frozen after update. Can't turn of, can't reset, waiting until the battery dies.

P.S. Somebody wants to buy it? $100 discount. LOL

Are there options other than the case that came with the Jetbook Color? It is absolutely great that a case was included with the device - but I find it a bit heavy (given how much the reader already weighs) and also find it odd that the reader sits on the left side and the case opens to the right. Is there a pouch that fits well?

Also wanted to say that a suspend mode would be great to avoid accidental and incidental pushing of buttons when the device is being carried around, even in the case I find pages have been turned or menus activated when I transport the reader.
