Does it do that without a SD card in it? Mine will do that if I do not have the SD card with the firmware update in it or on the internal memory.

I forgot - does your unit boot up and read e-books placed on an SD Card?
If not then there is more going on here.

If it does then copy all your docs on that card to your HD (For back-up).

Delete all the content of the card.

Copy all the extracted components of the intended firmware (there should be 3 parts) to the root of the SD card and then do a reset.

Then hold down ">" along with "Power on/off" until the jetBook logo appears and then let go of the buttons. It should jump to the "Update Firmware" screen where you will be given the option of going ahead by pressing "OK" or aborting by pressing return key or just press reset.

If this doesn't bring up the FW screen then reset and try again.

You should be able to get to the FW decision screen. If not then there is something wrong with the recognition of the SD card tha

Hey tacrcrow,

Thanks for your patience! I have heard of customers only being able to upgrade in steps but only once before, but it is certainly a possibility. When you say "error message" what does it say? The full error message will help us diagnose the problem.

If you do need to update in succession we will make available the order versions to you via email.

If you want you can contact tech support directly the number is 718-728-3605 and the email is phil@ectaco.com

Hope this helps!

The error message I receive is
Firmware upgrade failed! Please check the availability of the firmware in the internal memory or on SD card. Please download again if needed.

I've downloaded it a couple different times and tried diff cards to no avail.

Hey,

Thank you for your patience, at this point you can try to contact technical support directly to see about the intermediate versions to try and upgrade in succession.

Of if you like you can sit tight for just a few days while i get version 0.35g tested for use and official release. Should be by Friday the latest.

Hope this helps!

I'm receiving the same issue as tacrcrow it seems. I have a regular jetBook running firmware 0.33g, patch 13. I'm trying to update to the official release 0.35d.

After completing the steps Jerry gave, I get a Firmware Update Failed! message, indicating that the files could not be found on the SD card (despite them showing up correctly when I loaded the SD card) and to re-download them. I've done that to no avail.

I've also reformatted the card and tried it with no change.

How is the official release of 0.35g coming? Or is the beta the closest we get for now?

There is no way one can upgrade from the last official firmware (0.33g) to 0.35d. It must have been an awful oversight.

v0.35g has issues reading some epubs. Some epubs wouldn't reflow anymore, though they could with v0.35e.

Having just attempted 0.35g, I would also say that the official upgrade path is officially broken. I'm curious to see if 0.34 would work but right now, I'm not sure how to go about getting it.

The only way to upgrade 0.33g would be first to upgrade from 0.33g to 0.35a. Once your jetbook is loaded with 0.35a, you can move from there to 0.35e or 0.35g without any problem. At least that's how it's worked for me.

My suggestion to ectaco would be to quickly remove 0.35d from the site as it's completely non-functional. Note: even when you have 0.35a loaded, you couldn't upgrade it to 0.35d.

I just finished flashing to 0.35a from 0.33g. I was happy to see that my ADE book was recognized, so I decided to go from 0.35a to 0.35d/g, whichever would load.

It took a few tries to get the Jetbook to recognize the SD card on 0.35a; I had to reset it before it would finally pay attention to the fact that I had inserted the card again.

Attempt #1: Flashing to 0.35d results in the following error:
Firmware Upgrade failed, please use firmware version higher than v0.31

It's always nice to move on to a new error message, isn't it? I've seen that one already pop up here and it's pretty clear once again that the official release is officially broken. It looks like a file or two might be missing - 0.35d is smaller than either 0.35a or 0.35g.

I took fwjunkie's advice and went to 0.35g instead. Had no problems flashing it, so hopefully the issues fwjunkie saw with reflowing not working on certain epubs won't affect me too badly.

I attempted that on the first round. Got a message that the Jetbook was unable to find the firmware for updating. You pretty much have to go through 0.35a first.

Also, after playing with the new features, I've found that while my ADE books work pretty well, I can't get the B&N books to open at all. Not sure why, since I had no problem opening them on my computer.

Hey,

Thanks for the question, yea it would be best to contact tech support directly to get the intermediate version and update in succession.

I think the latest version will have B&N support which is 0.35D. I do not think earlier versions have this feature.

Hope this helps!

Like I said, I'm now on 0.35g, your latest beta, having snagged 0.35a off of the forum.

So, what I can tell from your answer is that 0.35d has BN support but 35g (a LATER version, theoretically) does not. Why is this?

As i mentioned i think 0.35D has B&N book support (for DRM ePub). However i am not positive.

I am sure version 0.35G does have this support, as this is the version i have and i have a working B&N book on the device. If their is still some difficulty it could be a problem with the book files themselves or with the jetBook firmware not properly installing.

Hope this helps!
