Dear customer
Jetbook works with both Mac and Linux OS.
The same firmware is compatible with all OS.
The current firmware version is 0.34. You may download it here:
ftp://custftp:FQSswyvGQ20So@ftp.ectaco.com/JL04-0.34c.exe
Best Regards,
Pavel - technical support

Pavel:
As mentioned to Paul at Ectaco, I get an alert message stating: "550 /JL04-0.34c.exe: No such file or directory". I'm using Windows 7. This is the same link shown in the Ectaco forum under the topic "New firmware 0.34c". I never get to the Save or Open pop up window. Any other suggestions? The .15 upgrade for my jetBook Lite was saved and downloaded with no problems.
Others are having the same problem.

The link provided does not work for me. Please post the link on the JetBook.net website and I'll try to get the upgrade there.
thanks in advance

Hopefully, one day soon, there will be a page for both regular and lite. It should contain, the latest update name and number for both, and it should contain a link to go for the PC update and the Mac update, again for both. Should not be difficult for this company to do. That is all I ask.
Look at
http://www.jetbook.net/downloads.php/?refid=29532
And see if it fits that specification.

Nope, doesn't. I want a page that says Jetbook Lite. and a different Page for Jetbook.
.
Latest update shown in your reader should say SoftWare: V0.xx Patch VXX
For PC users Instructions
For Mac users Instructions
I did not find this, I had to search for something and found for PC users and see if I could understand if I had V15 or if I really had had V0.14n Since my reader says V0.14n and V15
I know I want so much and it would take literally minutes to set up, far to long for the over worked and understaffed people who when all is said and done have to wait for management to realize they need this.
What they have is a start, but far from sufficient.

That page has seperate links to update the JetBook and JetBook Lite. When you go to those pages, there are directions for use. Even though it says the directions are for PCs, the exact same directions work for Macs - especially since the file is now a zip file and not an exe.
Either follow the directions to unzip the archive to an SD card if you have a card reader. I haven't tested the other method, but I would assume that you can plug the JetBook(lite) into the USB port on your Mac and copy the files over as the second set of directions show.
I know this isn't shown as specifically PC or Mac, but it will work for both.

Sweetie, that isn't the point. It would take just moments to make sure that any PC and Mac owner went to the correct place, had the correct instructions. If the instructions all only said Mac, how would all you windows users feel. You would be up in arms. There isn't even any place that shows exactly what the latest version is. My reader has both a 15 and a 14 at where I get the version info. To make matters worse the 14 is really a .14n and the patch is a 15. So if this is confusing to a veteran user of readers and computers, I can imagine how it must be to a new user. Lee

Hi Lee,
I agree that it could be clearer that the instructions are not PC specific but are applicable whether you have a PC or a Mac. It could help to be clearer that when the firmware version on your device is examined the "software version" refers to the actual firmware version and the "patch version" is something else.
A niggle here - on both this page and on the JBL dl page, the download IS identified as version 0.15 and on the JBL page, it even specifies the date of release. The same is true for the JetBook pages.
If you can't figure out how to find the version of you firmware (Settings / System Settings / Firmware version) you could always try reading the manual and you will find easy instructions on page 20.

Okay, Andrew and other mac owners. If you are having problems doing or following the instructions. Please email me off forum. I do have a working Jetbook lite that is using the latest .15 update. Mostly I was trying to get a working page for Mac users, well that may come in time.
.
It appears that the dudes of window land forgot a little step which makes it all work. I should be able to email you through the work around. At least I consider it a work around.
.
I know the instructions appear that you just do this, this, that and that and by magic it all happens, but if you have ever encountered the page with the graphic with the X at the top. You are almost home.

Little Egret sent me directions - similar to what I had to do on my CyBook to update the firmware. Stuffit will extract the files from the .exe and copying to a blank SD card is easy. Once you have the files on the SD card things go smoothly.

Andrew, good, and I also have a Cybook, makes the fingers tired changing pages as often as I need to keep up with my reading speed. However it is so light and other than a pain in the thumb after 4 or 5 hours of reading, love the book.
The nook is easier to change pages, has left and right on both sides of the screen, too bad they wasted the lower area with the coloured screen. However I have never seen a reader with the ability to changed pages that the jetbook gives you. That and it doesn't weigh anything either even with 4 batteries in it.
I still hope they get the pages sorted out and put out one for the Mac users.
