ECTACO, Inc. expands the range of its software based on the speech recognition technology. The new program, Crystal Clean Accent Remover, was released on February 27, 2002. It is the most innovative tool for those who want to improve their English pronunciation.

Crystal Clean Accent Remover is an electronic phrase book that evaluates your pronunciation. It contains over 2,500 English phrases organized in 12 topics and 64 sub-topics. Each phrase was pre-recorded by a professional American English announcer. Don’t rack your brains learning transcription of English words - simply select a phrase and the Accent Remover will say it for you.

The latest speech recognition technology allows you to perfect your English pronunciation without using a dictionary and without lessons from a teacher. This makes the device a powerful foreign language learning aid.

It’s the first time that an electronic phrase book evaluates your pronunciation. Accent Remover works as follows: the user reads a phrase displayed on his handheld device and says the English equivalent of this phrase aloud. The system recognizes the pronounced English phrase, compares it to the pre-recorded sample and gives user a grade. In the event if the result is not satisfactory, the Accent Remover repeats the English sample phrase and lets you make another try. The evaluation function is based on the Lingvobit™ speech recognition technology, which was first used in the popular UT-103 device.

Presently, the versions for Spanish, French and German-speaking users are available.
