The device now contains an additional conversational topic called Housekeeper. The corresponding section consists of more than 200 phrases thus covering about 95% of the communication needs of a property owner or tenant who employs a non-English speaker as a household aide.

"Every day we receive dozens of requests to develop different versions of the UT-103 that would be this or that industry specific. We are planning to release new models of the device this summer. Realizing that many people are not willing to wait this long we also decided to improve the existing model on-the-fly by adding an extra phrase bundle. The choice for a new topic was natural: our incoming mail traffic has been overloaded with requests to manufacture the "household" translator! After having had all this feedback analyzed, we also decided to change the set of languages supported within this new topic. Housekeeper provides translation of the English phrases into the Spanish, French and Russian languages", says Ectaco’s CEO David Lubinitsky.

The multilingual speech-to-speech UT-103 translator was officially launched to the market on 1 August 2001. Its formal presentation occurred last fall at the COMDEX Fall 2001 expo in Las Vegas. Now UT-103 can be purchased at http://www.ectaco.com/ut.
