Dear Tech Support,

I have just received my Ectaco Partner PW800 (English/Spanish) and it is not working. I have followed the instructions in the user manual yet all I get is a blank white screen and the keys do not have any functionality (including on/off button). The battery is fully charged, i have inserted the MMC correctly and i have followed exactly the instructions regarding the reset button. In addition to this, the accompanying CD is unusable as it has a large star-shaped crack in it, and the MMC has a big dirty scratch across its contact area. This is unacceptable, and if I am required to return this product I would imagine that the shipping costs will be covered by Ectaco and the 6.5% restocking fee will waived.

I followed the instructions you referred to at http://www.ectaco.com/ectaco-posts/list/6580.page .

I pressed load firmware however the message displayed was "MMC not found". The message in point 7 (6. Press Load Firmware with stylus
7. You see the message on the screen: Select package P 800 V and numbers Cancel ) did not appear. As mentioned in my previous post the Partner P800 series ENGLISH-SPANISH MMC has a deep scratch right across the contact areas, which makes me think the product wasn't checked before it was sent. I loaded this MMC into my laptop and the card could be read....

I copied the files across to my desktop and loaded onto my own MMC. I am not sure if the files are complete or if some are corrupted. I placed this card into the Ectaco Unit and followed the firmware reload instructions. It appears to have worked, however it is a concern to me that there will be problems in the future as the unit could not read the original ENGLISH-SPANISH card. As stated previously, there is a big scratch on the contact area of the original card, and the unit did not recognise it when following the reload instructions. It would appear this unit was not checked before it was sent to me.

**Could you please send me another "Partner P800 series ENGLISH-SPANISH MMC**.

Also, as mentioned in a previous post, the accompanying CD is cracked and damaged.

**Please send me another CD**
