I have a couple of other questions as well ...

B. Firmware, software questions

1) What is device underlying OS ?
2) Can the device be soomehow "unlocked" (by a PC dedicated tool), to enable basic manipulations like installing tiny applications (see above ..), adding new fonts, etc.
3) Can the device's firmware be somehow upgraded using PC and internet connection ? Are such upgrades planned by the producer in the future ?
4) Would be possible in future to see the following firmware enhancements:

- mobipocket support
- pdf viewer upgraded (for example, to enable reflow feature)
- word, excel viewers
- magnification enhanced by added "custom" value setting (for example, 110 %)
- breaking the screen narea not only in 9 or 4 segments, but also in 2
- simple memo / note - taking function
- simple calendar and contact function

C. Can we count on the next device version, or this is rather a closed story ?

Dear Sir / Madam,

1) The JetBook has the following OS:
Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.17-1.2174_FC5smp i686 [ELF] Current Operating System: Linux (none) 2.6.16.14 #387 Fri Jan 25 10:36:39 HKT 2008 armv4tl Build Date: 25 September 2006.
2) It is not possible to unlock the device in order to install other applications.
3) It is possible to upgrade the device's firmware from the card only. One should go to Settings/System Settings/Upgrade Patch in order to upgrade the firmware. We will make such an upgrade in case if some critical errors are found.
4) We are working on additional e-book format support, but it is not likely to be implemented soon. We do not plan to enhance the device adding the other functions you mentioned.
The current version has just been released lately and we are not going to release a newer version in the near future.
